About the program

The Tuberculosis(TB) Family Care Program empowers families to care for TB patients by providing them with easy-to-understand educational tools. These resources guide caregivers in TB prevention, medication adherence, and emotional support, ensuring better patient outcomes and reducing the spread of the disease.

Challenge

Educational Barriers: Many families are unaware of the complexities of TB care, particularly in under-resourced settings, making it difficult for them to effectively support their loved ones.

Cultural Sensitivity: The program had to account for diverse linguistic, cultural, and regional backgrounds to ensure widespread acceptance and understanding.

Behavioral Change: Ensuring that family caregivers adopt new practices, such as medication management and infection control, was key to the program's success.

Design Approach

In developing the educational tools, we embraced a human-centered approach, prioritizing visual learning to ensure that caregivers with varying literacy levels could easily understand the materials. The design incorporated culturally relevant icons, simplified illustrations, and clear messaging.

Through close collaboration with healthcare providers and caregivers, we tested these tools in real-world settings, refining them based on feedback to maximize their practical utility. This iterative process ensured that the tools not only educated but also motivated families to adopt critical health behaviours, such as proper medication management and infection control.

My Role

As a contributing designer on the TB Family Care Program, I worked closely with the design team to develop educational tools that were visually compelling and easy to understand. Our focus was on creating clear and engaging materials, from illustrations to layouts, ensuring consistency across all print and digital formats. I collaborated with other designers and healthcare professionals to test and refine these tools, making sure they resonated with diverse audiences and met the practical needs of caregivers.
